Sandro from Switzerland asked me about trip Khinalig village. I would like to bring over him to choose another destination because of long road. But he insisted me to go to “Shinalig” – he was pronouncing the word Khinalig, because of in Azerbaijani alphabet we are write like “Xinalig”. Khinalig is the village located on the one of slopes of Caucasus mountains little bit far from center of this region – Guba city. There are living the people speaking in own language belonged only them. Because before this village hadn’t any roads and their language was developing in isolation. Backyard of each house in this village is the roof of another house. Because the village located on the slope of hill and houses form a stair. For building of houses used local black stones. There are not trees here, because of the village situated on the place 2500 meter high from sea level. There are also several villages on the way to Khinalig with an individual language and interesting relief. For example, we can say villages like Jek and Gryz.
The road to Khinalyg was made after 1980th and pass-through deep gorge along the river Gudyal. Every piece of road has danger of rockfall.
We have reached Kinalyg about 6. Because of we lost more time in Chiraggala fortress and after had have lunch in Guba region. Sandro very liked the gorge we passed and the village also. He said that this village is very different from others he had seen before. We have stayed there for overnight. That was one village home. The homeowner Hajybala was an intelligent man. He had good collection of old coins, guns, daggers, dirks, stones, wear and many other things. We discussed with him about their people, language, traditions and religion till late time of night. When we go to sleep there was cold despite that was summertime.
Next day they laid a festive table. That day was holiday Kurban Bayram.
After breakfast we went to the local museum. There were many interesting exhibits regarding to this village, because of this village has thousands of years history.
