My Australian friends asked me about places in Azerbaijan where had been lived Germans. I made plan to travel to this places with them. After tour to Sheki we have gone to Goygol where Germans lived.
Before the name of the Goygol city was Helenendorf. Germans came to Azerbaijan starting 19th century. The Russian Emperor family gave them land and money and place in the South of Caucasus. They must be develop this new occupied countries. The diligent Germans with help of this contributions given by Empire made great vineyards and wine factory which became famous in Europe with their high quality wines and cognac. Also they have built settlement named Helenendorf with good planned streets. During the Second World war Germans deported by Soviet regime to Central Asia.

This is very nice area on the foot of Garabagh mountains. There are many wide vineyards. The city has  streets with good saved houses of Germans. Now here are living local Azerbaijan people. We have walked through streets and was in German Kirche which was changed to museum.

Little children sold grapes in front of their home in one of old German streets. I bought some little grapes for eating on the road. This time when I bought grapes came their father. I asked him about wine to buy for my guests. He said that they have good grapes planted by Germans and he have made good wine. I have bought five-liter good dry wine and one-liter best cognac made in German wine factory. After when they tested in hotel became very remorseful that why didn't buy much more wines and cognac, because these was very best drinks they have been tested before.
